Training For Humans

Attaining great health is not an easy and clear-cut path. In the information age of today, many people don’t know where to start or what is right for them, and struggle to sustain a regimen due to pain and injury, bouncing from one method to the next. At Bare Training Systems, this is why we are 100% committed to the Functional Patterns method, providing reliable solutions to all things health, no matter someone’s fitness level, background, or disabilities - don’t trust what I’m writing, trust the results.

Have we deviated too far from our evolutionary base? According to anthropologists, the essential movements over millions of years for human survival were the ability to stand, walk, run, and throw. These movements led to adaptations that created the structural blueprint for human anatomy. In modern times, we have been afforded the ability to survive while ignoring these fundamental aspects of our biological blueprint, but not without gradual consequence.

Humanity is physically degenerating. If we examine our health metrics, what we call modern civilization has been on a degenerative path. From the ever-increasing rates of obesity, hip/knee replacements, drug addiction, Alzheimer’s, or diabetes to name a few, clearly something is wrong with what we’re doing. Starting with biomechanics, we are here to intervene by taking into account all of the relevant variables specific to human needs, and to facilitate a process of continual growth towards regeneration.

Enhanced athleticism
Pain-free movement
Stable fat levels
Better digestion
Postural symmetry & resiliency

Health Benefits From Consistent Training

Sharper cognition & focus
Clearer skin
Natural energy production
Deeper quality rest
Less depression & general anxiety

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

|

YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS HERE

POSTURE ANALYSIS

  • Something as simple as standing is one of the primary functions of being human and where we will begin assessing for static postural dysfunctions.

GAIT CYCLE ANALYSIS

  • The gait cycle (manner of walking/running) is the basis of all movement. Through slow-motion video we will identify any dysfunctional patterns in motion.

DETAILED DISCUSSION

  • A comprehensive health & injury history; a detailed biomechanical explanation; develop a strategy based upon your own unique needs & circumstances.

The initial assessment is where it all begins. By leveraging modern technology, we can gain clear insight as to how your biomechanics are contributing to your pain and limiting your potential. This is a mandatory first step before beginning any form of training.

Operating from a 1st Principles approach, we will expose the root causes of your dysfunctions during the assessment by accounting for any possible variables inhibiting higher quality posture and movement. Expect the assessment to take about 90 minutes.

CHANGING BIOMECHANICS

  • through active joint and spinal decompression, we can undo the causes of wear and tear.

  • by understanding mechanical leverage and tensegrity applied to the human system.

  • by analyzing elite athletics and programming that movement “code” into you.

  • by balancing length-tension relationships, structural symmetry is a byproduct.

One-on-one sessions are where we can implement our most effective training programs, being able to allocate 100% of the attention to the client’s individual needs. This affords the client the ability to move and progress at their own pace, not limited by a group setting.

Clients will be taken through a series of systematic progressions in order to master the fundamentals behind moving better. You will be shown self-massage techniques, specific corrective exercises, and integrative dynamic exercise to meet the needs of your body. 30, 60, or 90 minute one-on-one sessions offered.

BUILDING A CULTURE

PARTNER TRAINING

|

  • Progress through the Functional Patterns training system with a friend.

  • Learn effective self-massage techniques to address muscular discomfort and stiffness.

  • Develop striking skills through mechanics-based pad work, partner drills, and constraint-led games.

  • Build submission grappling and wrestling skills through mechanics-based partner drills and constraint-led games.

Partner training is offered for groups of 2. Although individualized attention is the tradeoff here, training as a pair can provide a means of addressing your mechanics with the benefit of a grater supportive social environment; being challenged and growing together.

Additionally, we may more easily facilitate the skills of striking and grappling for those interested. Learn how the most reliable techniques used in combat sports work on a fundamental level, allowing you to develop real skills at a manageable pace. 60 or 90 minute small group sessions offered.

VIRTUAL TRAINING

STAYING ON THE PATH

  • If you’ve got a phone and an internet connection you can train virtually.

  • Dumbbells, resistance bands, and a standup mirror are adequate for training virtually.

  • Easily capture key moments while training and address it together right away.

Virtual training may seem ineffective at first glance, but from experience it can be just as effective and offer some unique benefits. In addition to saving commute time, we can leverage the ability to set up multiple cameras on a call at once, providing the trainer valuable information from one screen. 30 or 60 minute virtual training sessions offered.

  • - Do I have at least a 10’ x 10’ space to train undistracted? Is the lighting bright enough?

    - Does that space have a reliable internet connection? How about sound quality?

    - Does my phone have enough charge to last for over an hour? If not, am I able to have it charging during the call?

    - Am I able to set up multiple cameras on the call, i.e., a phone and a laptop/tablet?

    - Do I have the ability to easily move/angle the phone, i.e., on an adjustable tripod?

  • If you are unable to make it to the studio for an initial assessment, you can take care of this on your own, here’s what you’ll need:
    - Slow-motion video capture (most modern phones today can do this well).
    - Tripod to hold the camera steady.
    - Flat ground to run on, preferably at a park, or access to a curved treadmill.
    - Mid-thigh shorts for males; sports bra and low-waisted shorts for females (spine & shoulder blades must be visible).
    - Film yourself running barefoot from the front, back, and both sides.
    - Photograph yourself standing relaxed from the front, back, and both sides.
